Technoparc Montréal and Canix Colo Inc. announced the launch of a TIER II data centre, the first of its kind in North America.

Designed for up to three clients, this new centre redefines colocation for organizations that need an IT room ranging from 3,000 to 15,000 ft2. With a total area of some 42,000 ft2, the data centre will serve to provide large companies, crown corporations and government institutions with a customized environment where they can deploy their critical IT infrastructures.

"The market is pushing in this direction," said Canix VP of Corporate Affairs, Patrick David. "It will also attract foreign companies to Quebec, where they can now deploy their relay sites. Boasting the exceptional quality of Hydro-Québec's facilities and Quebec's green hydro-electric energy, this data centre will bring world-class visibility to Quebec," added David.

"Technoparc Montréal understands the real estate issues facing today's companies when it comes to where to locate their critical IT infrastructures," stated Technoparc Montréal President and CEO Mario Monette. "That's why we and our financial partners decided to invest in this promising project."

One among NRC's 19 institutes, NRC Biotechnology Research Institute is the largest research facility devoted to biotechnology in Canada. Through its Health and Environment sectors, in collaboration with its Bioprocess Centre, the Institute promotes, assists and conducts leading-edge R&D collaborations, services and technology transfers with the biotechnology industry. Working both independently and in collaboration, the Institute's three sectors support both the Health and Environment programs through their specific capabilities and technology platforms.

The Institute's Health Program focuses on the application of ground-breaking biotechnologies-including drug discovery and development-to the fields of chronic diseases, particularly cancer and cardiovascular disease. The collaborative agreement encompasses both organizations' business development strategy for Life Sciences and the Éco-campus Hubert Reeves.

Technoparc Montréal has signed a partnership agreement with Integrim and its subsidiary, Sensaas India, in Hyderabad, India.

Over the past 15 years, Integrim has developed solutions aimed at automating the processing of supplier invoices, client files, contracts, claims, and other processes using standardized methods which apply to any source format (paper, fax, electronic). Its subsidiary, Sensaas India, which provides Electronic Document Management (EDM) and Web Content Management (WCM) services for Clinical Research Organizations (CRO), offers Technoparc Montréal a direct window on India's Life Science industry.

The worldwide clinical research industry market generates estimated sales of $23 billion US and a growth rate of 8.5% per year. It also involves 1,100 players, and India has become a prime destination for biopharmaceutical companies.

Hubert Reeves and Technoparc Montréal team up in a unique project dedicated to clean technologies.

Today, at the Pollutec 2010 in Lyon, France, Mario Monette, President and CEO of Technoparc Montréal, proudly announced that Technoparc Montréal has concluded a partnership with acclaimed scientist and ecologist Hubert Reeves. Mr. Reeves will lend his name to a unique site in Canada on Technoparc Montréal's Saint-Laurent Campus, dedicated to innovative clean technology companies.

The site will be called the ÉCO-CAMPUS HUBERT REEVES and will bring together the international scientific community in the heart of a natural, bio-diverse habitat, offering one of the most innovative eco-construction work environments in the world.

The ÉCO-CAMPUS HUBERT REEVES will officially be launched in Montréal in 2011.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and Technoparc Montréal report a major increase in traffic on the #72 Alfred-Nobel bus line, which links the Côte-Vertu Metro station to the Fairview bus terminal and passes through Technoparc Montréal's Saint-Laurent Campus.

"This bus line has seen the greatest increase in traffic between 2006 and 2010. It fact, the number of stops have almost quadrupled, going from 369 to 1,714 per weekday, on average. Service improvements for this line, including continually increasing the number of stops over the past four years, have certainly contributed to its success," explained Michel Labrecque, Chairman of the Board of the STM.

"This excellent result, one of many achieved during the Saint-Laurent Campus's development, is due to our close partnership with the STM. We intend to pursue our efforts since access to public transportation is a major asset that explains why more and more companies see our science park as a premiere place to do business," said Mario Monette, President and CEO of Technoparc Montréal.
