PME MTL Centre-Ouest, one of the six service hubs of PME MTL, the Ville de Montréal‘s business support network, in partnership with Desjardins, the Centre d’expertise industrielle de Montréal (CEI MTL) and the Réseau Mentorat Montréal, announced the extension of the application period for the TechPreneur entrepreneurial contest.

The contest aims to encourage and support tomorrow’s technology leaders and is open to young companies less than 5 years old that design and/or develop technological solutions or services, whether digital or electronic, and that wish to set up in the Technoparc Montréal territory. The initiative aims to distribute $45,000 in grants and prizes and to support the winning company in its growth challenges.

Technoparc Montréal, one of the largest concentrations of technology companies

Located in the borough of Saint-Laurent and managed by the Ville de Montréal, Technoparc Montréal’s mission is to accelerate the growth and support the development of leading-edge technologies in three main sectors: life sciences, information and communication technologies, and aerospace. 85% of its 115 companies are technology companies working in fields as varied as biotechnology, robotics, design and engineering, security, information technology and telecommunications. This makes the territory one of the largest concentrations of technology companies on the island of Montréal.

Alain Bakayoko

“The concentration of companies in the same field adds value. It’s an argument to attract big players like multinationals.”

Alain Bakayoko

Director of commercialization and innovation for life sciences and health technologies, PME MTL

This community often attracts companies to the territory, in addition to other assets such as the quality of life thanks to the numerous green spaces, as well as accessibility and the arrival of a REM station.

A “tech” community at the service of business growth

“With the presence of major Québec and international technology players, especially in life sciences, aerospace and in ICTs, for many years on the Technoparc Montréal site, this area plays a key role in the development of these companies. This contest will help young innovative companies evolve in this vibrant ecosystem and access the tools they need to develop their business successfully”.

Marc-André Perron

Director, PME MTL Centre-Ouest

According to the International Association of Science Parks (IASP), the main mission of a science and technology park is to increase the wealth of its community by promoting a culture of innovation. Thanks to various initiatives and regular activities set up specifically on the territory, Technoparc Montréal companies have access to resources, financing, coaching, knowledge sharing with their peers, and visibility.

The deadline to apply for the contest and perhaps win $45,000 in grants and prizes is now February 28, 2022. To learn more about the contest, you can visit the PME MTL website.
